Oh, friends. It’s been a year.
A loud year, a quietly sad year, a tense/angry/anxious year, and a year full of such profoundly beautiful moments that they took my breath away in gratitude.
Back in the day (like, as recently as 2014), my biggest New Year’s resolution was to drink more water. Because, like, I had everything else completely figured out.
Hahahahahaha, 2014-and-earlier-Keely. You optimistic, dehydrated fool.
This year, I’m wishing for the ability to set boundaries when I need them, and the ability to embrace fearless joy when I don’t. Full face-to-face attention when my friends, family, and children ask me a question or choose to share a story. Naps. Guilt-free, blissful, glorious naps spanning anywhere from 10 minutes to three hours in randomly occurring bursts- and the intelligence to thank the universe when stars align so I can take them.
Thanks for reading along in 2015. Thanks for commenting, sharing, liking, retweeting, and- in certain stunningly euphoric cases- emailing directly which led to awesome conversations, relationships, and future exciting ventures. (I hope you’ll continue to do all of the above in 2016, too!)
You guys make this so much nicer than when I just jot thoughts and feelings on a crumpled piece of paper and shove it in a desk drawer.
Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, blessed semi-naked Winter Solstice (’cause it’s springtime in Chicago), and love for whatever, however, and whenever you celebrate.
Thank you for being better for my soul than an ill-organized desk drawer.
(See you sometime in January.)
