Raising my kids in Chicago, I’m grateful for so many things; among them, a plethora of world-class restaurants and cuisine, exceptional public transit, and a positively bonkers amount of live theatre. Working with Pearachute has only amplified what I adore about this city- and added a few more items to my “thankful” list. So, in honor of Thanksgiving week, may I present:
Pearachute has my gratitude
…Because my girls, 5 and 7, are well on their way to becoming citizens of the world with Language Stars classes. Last week- Spanish. Next week- who knows? Arabic, German, Mandarin? It’s a great big world out there, and my kids will have a hallo for every day of the week.
…Because Easel Art Studio has made it cool for my kids to bandy around terms like “mixed media.” (Yep, even the not-quite 3 year-old.) In another universe, I would’ve made a killer art teacher. In this one? I get to be all hands-on (and occasionally hands-off) while my kids create masterpieces. (The fact that my kitchen floor remains largely plaster and glitter-free is just a sweet, sweet side bonus.)
…Because MyGym lets my trio burn off some solid pre-dinner energy. (Listen, they can’t all be altruistic.) With a range of skill and age levels, we get a handle on those pesky “balance” and “strength” life skills- and sometimes, just sometimes, Mama gets to sit with the Kindle for a few blessed, glorious minutes.

And if that’s not something worthy of bowing your head over a meal for, I don’t know what is.
