On the second day of holiday events & giveaways…

Welcome to the Four Non-Linear Days of Fun Events and Giveaways and Yes, Even Some Alcohol Too, Day Two!

No, I still haven’t chosen a better name.

So, a Chicagoland Santa visit is in the works, friends? You can’t put too much thought into this. If it’s not the right Santa- a really good Santa- your child will most likely be traumatized forever. (Don’t confuse that with your child crying in the photo. Because that most likely will happen anyhow. We all need to just be cool with that.)

I’ve vetted three marvelous places to meet THE Santa. (And for any kids reading this: Everyone knows that Santa enlists super-special Santa-friend helpers, amiright? Sometimes he even shows up to take their place for an afternoon or two of list-reading and lap-sitting. You never know when it’ll happen. But I’m fairly certain it’ll be at one of these three locales.)

Three Marvelous Places to Meet THE Santa:

The Swissôtel: He’s gotta stay somewhere while visiting Chicago, right? If I were him, I’d choose the Swissôtel’s penthouse, too. The poshly decorated five-room Presidential Suite will be decked out by Santa’s elves- the same ones giving guided tours- and will feature letter-writing stations, complimentary treats (for kiddos on the Nice List), and a keepsake gift. (You can hashtag a pic or two for your own chance to stay at the Swissôtel. Jingle all the way, you guys!) Opens Wednesday, December 3rd. Check here for dates and times. Free.

Marion Street Market: That Santa is such a do-gooder. In addition to reading stories to the kiddos of Oak Park, he’s also accepting canned food for the Oak Park River Forest Food Pantry. How about a little dose of the holiday giving spirit with your complimentary coffee, house-made pastries, and candy canes? Tuesday, December 15th, 9 a.m.-10 a.m. Here’s where they’re locatedFree with canned good donation.

Driehaus Museum: The third annual Santa Saturdays at the Driehaus is your chance to hang out in one of the finest Gilded Age residences, see an unparalleled collection of fine and decorative arts, and- oh yeah- hang out with Santa Claus. Your ticket includes museum access, songs and stories, holiday art projects, treats, and even a family portrait in the elegant ballroom. (You can keep your North Pole workshop- we’ve got Louis Comfort Tiffany decor.) Saturdays, December 12th and 19th, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. All the deets here. $12 for adults, $8 for children 6-12, 5 and under free

And now, a fantastic giveaway.

A Fantastic Giveaway:

Remember when I gushed about Clever Belle and their beyond-wonderful line of gender-empowering shirts for gals? Well, they’re still going strong and have even more mathematically inspiring, art-encouraging, Be Yourself-tastic shirts to offer. And I get to give one away.

Nora Clever Belle shirt

Seriously, take a look at their online catalog and tell me you wouldn’t freak out to wear this Malala shirt. As a person whose kids rock four of these amazing shirts, I can attest to the softness, the awesomeness, and the favorite-item-in-the-dresser-ness. (And good news, grownups: they stock women’s sizes, too.)

Go take a look. Tell me your favorite. And then enter the Rafflecopter below for a super cinchy chance to win one. (And even if you don’t win this go ’round, you can enjoy free shipping on all of your favorites with the code CBSHIP15. Merry Christmas, y’all.) ‘Cause you know what that smallish female in your life really wants under the tree this year? Equal footing and a stronger sense of self.
