Truth time: I was provided free products, Disney and otherwise, to host a Disney Kids Preschool Playdate. That said, all thoughts, opinions, and giddy children are entirely my own.

Playdates are fun. Disney is really fun. So the combination of “playdate” and “Disney?” In my household, those two words jammed up together equate fun to the nth degree.
The girls were thrilled to help me set up a Sofia the First morning par-tay. (Disclosure: I informed them of it the afternoon prior to ward off loud statement-questions of IS IT NOW? IS THIS THE PARTY? WHERE ARE MY FRIENDS? I WAS TOLD THERE WOULD BE JUICE.) I had also allowed them each to invite two friends, since they’re now at the critical ages of 5 and 3 (5 being the age where you absolutely have your favorite pals, and 3 being the age where you’re finally able to say you have friends who aren’t just part n’ parcel with your sister’s friends), and so we had a nice, smallish group of wonderful friends (mine included), and the cutest little siblings this side of Enchancia. (Because if there’s one thing that Sofia the First touts, it’s just how awesome it is to have cool siblings.)
Jasper was the youngest kid there, as well as the only guy. (Happy first Sofia the First party, baby Jasper!)
Nora and Zu had decorated with Sofia-themed tablecloths, napkins, table centerpieces, games galore, crayons sticking out of Sofia cups (in case anyone had a hankering to decorate some Sofia artwork), stickers, and snacks. Oh, the snacks.
First up, we donned Sofia tiaras and colored a bit. There was a fair amount of stickering, too- paper, selves, baby siblings- and then it was decided (by the princesses? Jasper? Who knows.) that the layered costumes were not costume-tacular enough.
So we added more skirts and jewels and- inexplicably- wings. Then we made Sofia banners on straws, as you do.
We twirled. We danced. We played with cars and trucks and figurines. We ate Crunchmaster Grammy Crisps (like graham crackers but better times a thousand), Sofia’s own fruit snacks, and chocolate chip Clif Kid Z Bars. (For those of our guests who didn’t quite see where those last items were located, I’m saddened to announce that at least three of them disappeared under mysterious circumstances. Our only lead is a chocolate-covered mouth belonging to a certain five-year old who goes by the name of Nora, but she promised to keep an eagle eye out.) Zu, for her part, cheerfully passed out cheddar cheese like raffle tickets, because that’s what you do at parties. (So she told me.)
The bigger kids had a blast with Disney “fortune-tellers” which, as one friend reminded me, were called “cootie-catchers” back in our day. (Oh so long ago…) My favorite part of watching Nora and her pals figure out which Disney character they were most like was how- even with only four options- they couldn’t figure out how to get it to the character of their choosing each time. (I love five. It’s probably one of my most favorite ages.)
Then we had the three year-olds; equally adorable, equally hilarious. Susannah and her two besties played the Disney Parks matching game with the aplomb of much older kids (…who also cheat a tiny bit).
After a couple hours of Sofia-tastic fun (and learning about how to plan our own magical Disney adventures in the future), all of the little ladies (and single gent) waltzed off with Mickey’s chore charts and luggage tags worthy of the main man himself.
And I think we can all agree that a very fancy, quite magical time was had by all.
Even the smallest (and most confused) of princes concurs.

This was a sponsored post on behalf of Disney Kids and their Preschool Playdates. (Thanks to Walt Disney World Resort and MomSelect!) Besides the celebration playdate kit, I was not otherwise compensated for this blog, and my sheer love of Disney-esque things (and yeah, sure, my children’s happiness) was more than enough payment for me. Again, all comments- and OHMYWORD overexcited children- are my own. Unless someone wants to take them to the library for an hour or something.
