As a member of the Stream Team, I’m gaga for the latest programming curated by Netflix- and only a teensy bit excited to share it with you guys. Where teensy=crazy-big. That said, all thoughts, opinions, and borderline-embarrassing love of The Mighty Ducks are my own.

Parents live for milestones, right? Of COURSE. People don’t invest in baby books and shoe-bronzin’ because it sounds sorta fun, now do they? NO. It’s because they’re compelled. Like a compulsion. Like a never-ending, memorabilia piles stacking up, frantic race to acknowledge the passage of time which would happen regardless but in not quite so gluestick-y a manner.
Digression.
So- folks with offspring who do things in some semblance of a chartable fashion- this one’s totally for you.
Celebrating milestones with your little ones can be a whole lot easier- and calmer/cozier/cuddle-up-under-a-blanket-and-pretend-you-never-have-to-leave-ier- with this new batch of shows just tailored to your kid’s specific achievements/stuff that he or she has very little control over. Here are the ones we’re digging on right now:
The Hive: Babee’s Room (A new sibling! And ohmygosh so ridiculously cute.)
Super Why: The Story of the Tooth Fairy (If there’s something Whyatt and crew can’t solve with spelling lessons, then I don’t want to know about it.)
Arthur: Through the Looking Glasses (When I want help with life lessons, I like to turn to the superb show which brought us a guest appearance of Philip Seymour Hoffman and the cartoon stylings of Dr. Katz. I mean, not in the same episode or anything, but that’s the level of quality we’re dealing with, here.)
D2: The Mighty Ducks (First big game? The children need to see this one. Obviously. The children. Who need to know about fist-pumping game saves and flying vee formations like whoa.)
And for the grownups doing a little What The Heck Is Happening In Our Lives dance of their own:
The Office (Which, embarrassingly? Not embarrassingly? I spend a goodly bit of my life directly comparing and contrasting my life with P.J. to Pam’s life with Jim. Just decided- NOT embarrassingly.)
Parks & Rec (So, totally, I’ve never run for office. But if I did? I’d do it exactly like Leslie Knope.)
House Hunters (If you’re anything like me which, obviously, you are- you’re ecstatic at the addition of HH onto Netflix’s programming. Now we can mock people with an ability to see beyond a painted window sill in greater frequency!)
And usually I’m all up in the face of the featured activity this month…but, truth be told, I’m a little wiped from a surprising amount of those aforementioned milestones. SO. I’m just gonna leave this tutorial for a supra-sweet milestone keepsake box right here, and a recipe for sweet rewards like these chocolate-dipped pretzel rods right here…and know what happens when you leave good things around for good people to find them.
It’s like a bonus room in the house that’s totally under budget.
And not even painted orange.
