This is a sponsored post on behalf of Imagine Toys for the KaBOOM! Go Out and Play essentials pack, something that I think you’d want even if I weren’t being compensated. Which I am.

Oh, pals, I kinda love telling everyone about fun and spectacular things that just EXIST in the world.
Today’s little bit of fun n’ spectacular is the KaBOOM! Go Out and Play essentials pack. Some stuff you need to know:
- Kids’ unstructured playtime has diminished by gazillions over the past decades.
- Obesity is real.
- Fresh air is awesome.
- Teaching children outdoor games (that they can then go and play by themselves whenever they want for hours and hours on end) is even more awesome.
I knew that reviewing the KaBOOM! Go Out and Play essentials pack was going to be straight-up fun, especially when I saw the sturdy backpack that encased all of the goodies. (My gals chose purple. Shocking. But it also comes in orange!) Here’s what came inside:
- Two jump ropes.
- A red kickball.
- An orange kickball.
- A frisbee (neon orange, to ensure easier retrieval once it inevitably finds its way to a field or neighbor’s roof)
- Two packs of jumbo sidewalk chalk.
- A book of favorite outdoor games suitable for all ages of kiddo (and their parents who had previously tired of saying “That game? Really? Again?”)
My favorite method of reviewing- and, let’s be honest, parenting- is to just toss it all out there and see what happens. These were my not-so shocking results:
- Old school kickballs have a power over pretty much anyone. They are pure enchantment.
- I was super glad they included two kickballs.
- Ditto chalk boxes.
- Ditto jump ropes.
- Suzy has a great kick!
- At this point in time, neither of my daughters is a terrific catcher.
- WOW, Nora’s good with chalk.
- I might just be the best jump roper that ever jumped rope.
- My kids are rabid for scavenger hunts and kicking things towards things.
The goal of KaBOOM! is to ensure a great place for all kids to play within walking distance of their own homes. I mean, honestly. What’s better than that? And with each KaBOOM Go Out and Play essentials pack purchased, at least 8 percent will be donated to KaBOOM’s national non-profit, helping them reach that goal even sooner. (Go buy it here.)
With back-to-school firmly upon us, it can be hard to guarantee that our kids are getting enough rough n’ tumble, out-of-doors, No One Is Telling You To Shush time. But kits like these are a great first step.
And kick.
And fling.
