I’ll admit it: trading in my sweet li’l VW Passat last night made me Feel Feelings. (I know. You’re shocked.)
But even though it was supra-used by the time we bought it, it was still the nicest car I’d ever owned. And it came into our lives when I was six months pregnant with Nora, and everything was shiny and new with possibility- what with the fixer-upper we’d just purchased and all, the one which had yet to implode… It was an exciting time.
So, goodbye, first “family car.” Thank you for holding our pretzels and copies of Where’s Waldo so carefully in your deep seat cushions. Apologies for that time I left footprints all over the back of the passenger seat in an attempt to climb between car seats en route to Cincinnati. And I’ll never forget how you so forgivingly held three loads of clothing donations in your trunk for a good two seasons.
I’ll never forget you, Grey Seal.
And hey, Ruby Tuesday: You’ve got a tough act to follow.
But based on the fact that at least one of my children can be in a picture with me while riding in your Odyssey-rrificness…
I’d say we’re off to a good start.
