Back When I Worked Outside The Home (And Rode Trolleys).

In honor of Father’s Day (and also because I’m still rocking the Throwback Monday because #tbm is a thing), here’s a post detailing what we did on this weekend…exactly four years ago. Things have changed. Yet things have also not changed. (Enjoy.) *** Rock N’ Roll Lifestyle, Indeed. (originally published June 21st, 2010) What a wonky start to the day. It’s Monday, it’s boiling hot, it’s swamptacular…and it’s- quite unexpectedly- my day off. Mr. C has a raging fever (feel better, li’l {Read More}

Mom’s Streaming Sanctuary. (Thanks, Netflix!)

As a member of Netflix’s Stream Team, it’s my really, really fun job to share each month’s exceptionally curated content. June’s theme is Mom’s (and Dad’s!) Streaming Sanctuary and- for real- you’re gonna love what’s now available for devouring. *** Boy oh boy, did this month’s Netflix Stream Team round-up really speak to me on a deep and personal (and exhausted) level. Because it’s all about Mom’s Streaming Sanctuary (…you know, the ones you’ve been queuing up for months but {Read More}

World’s Best Dad. (Twice.)

I never doubted that the guy I married would be a good father- after all, I’d seen the way he’d drop everything for his friends, the patience he’d exude when our contractors would say things that were less than truthy, and the exuberance he’d bring to playing with our nieces and nephews (and yeah, our cats). But, still. Knowing those things and seeing them in action are horses of a different (2am) color. P.J. is an exceptional father. He sleeps oh-so {Read More}

I Wrote A Book. It’s Called Expecting. And You Can Win It Here.

You guys, today is the 6th birthday of Lollygag Blog. Or it’s anniversary. Let’s go with blogivirthday. And for this epic blogivirthday, I’m hosting what is easily the most exciting giveaway in which I’ve ever participated. ‘Cause it’s for my book. For the nine percent of you all who haven’t been inundated with the chatter, travails, and whining about this creative process for the past two years, lemme give you a little Cliff Notes action: It’s called Expecting: A Year {Read More}

Back When I Thought Losing Both Arms While Abroad Was Funny…

Today is the second in our series of Throwback Mondays (#tbm- it’s now a thing) with this little bit of mockery inspired by Tom, my brother in-law. It makes me realize two things: one, that I still find this ridiculously funny, and two, that I had simply gobs of time on my hands back in ’08. Why wasn’t I, like, learning Mandarin or something? *** Sign Me Up! (Originally posted June 17th, 2008) This is an actual travel insurance payout {Read More}

Birthday Wisdom.

On the eve of my birthday, I’ve been reflecting on a few things: Firstly, that I’ve yet to feel sheepish about announcing either my birthday or my age. Apparently 34 is not yet the age where I feel the need to fib about how old I am. (But I can see it coming. Whoo boy, it’s right there on the ol’ horizon, isn’t it?) I am good at many, many things. Cutting my own bangs is not one of them. {Read More}

A Round-Up: Lazy Blogging & World Music

Listen, it’s Wednesday, you’re sitting there, and you’re all like- It’s only Wednesday. I understand. So here are some blogs just perfect for mid-week readin’. Procrastination At Its Finest: Last Thursday, I tapped out. Yet wrote a post about it. I even eye-roll at myself, people. I attempted to make Throwback Monday a thing. (Also, you need this picture frame.) June’s Moms in the Mix blog concerned the very pressing issue of picnicking and why you (me) should stop being {Read More}

Back When I Aimlessly Wandered Stores…

In honor of so many things- namely, my upcoming birthday, the 6th anniversary of this very blog, and the fact that I’ve gone to summer vacation in my mind- I’ve decided to have some fun with Mondays until the Fall and do a bit of nostalgic posting. In short, I’m gonna bring back some of my favorite posts (which, really, have only been seen by the ten of you who’ve been reading since the beginning. Hi, guys!!) and hope that {Read More}
