Weekend Fun With Graco And The New SnugRide Click Connect 40

Seriously, this baby. If she’s not the future face of #gracosafety, then I would really like to know why. This past Saturday, I got to host a supra-awesome Graco event at the Babies R Us in Niles, IL. (For you Chicago cityfolk, it was actually only twenty minutes away from my house. Closer than the one downtown! Go figure.) The party was to unveil the new Graco SnugRide Click Connect 40, the only rear-facing car seat that grows with babies from {Read More}

The Glass Menagerie UPDATE.

And no, I’m not watermarking this picture. If anyonereally needs to steal an image of a glass cat- have at it. There has been an update to the rapidly unfolding Glass MenagerieGate of 2012. Namely, the cat has been found. The cat has been found. My friend Vicki, whom I had contacted for help, had suggested that the glass animals were in the living room. Now, I had looked in the living room. I had emptied vases, opened the radiator {Read More}

The Glass Menagerie.

All the miniatures and their brethren at the shop. I do not own ALL of these little guys. YET. There are some very important stories going on in the world right now. Stories about things that make an impact. This is not one of those stories. This, however, is the story of how I lost a very important collection. And how the collection began. And how the loss of the collection raised stress levels in an already borderline crazy person. Namely, me. {Read More}

Way Back Wednesday.

Just for a lark (multiple larks, if you like), let’s take a stroll down memory no-through-traffic-construction-cones lane and see what we were up to in the ol’ Fall of 2008. There were no biological children residing with us. We were still house-huntin’ renters. And I still talked about bodily functions way too much. Enjoy!***Originally titled: Jefferson Park- That Sounds Far.October 14th, 2008On the way to work this morning (on Tealie Elizabasket, might I add) I passed a lot of construction sites, workers {Read More}

Say It With Elastic Waist Jeans.

I have a new favorite advertisement. And it’s for elastic jeans. Let’s begin. As the ad so clearly states: That’s Amazing! Some of the text is mighty small, so I shall clarify. For starters, this pair of dungarees features the company’s “most comfortable 360 degree stretch waist.” That’s right, we’re not talking just a little stretch action by the zipper, no sir. You could comfortably invite a friend in there with you. (Maybe not so “comfortably” for your “friend”- but {Read More}

Things That Actually Happened.

Yesterday, as I sat on the couch and tried my darndest to write, I realized that my fingers were frozen solid. Despite the thermometer doing its best to tell me it was a balmy 70 degrees in here, I believe that it told a lie. (I think P.J. might actually have paid it off.) My actual thought to myself was- Good Lord, this blanket is unwieldy. Can’t someone just give me something as cozy yet infinitely more wearable? Then I {Read More}

Glitter Ghosts, a.k.a. We Are Having FUN, Darnit!

This morning, the three of us decided to make some glitter ghosts. Now, I’m not inventing the wheel, here. It’s pretty awesomely basic. Glitter, construction paper, crayons, and contact paper (or packing tape for the- ahem- less prepared). I used to do this project with the kids I nannied and, basic as it is, if the kids have never seen this done before, you kinda feel like a wizard. STEP ONE: Make sure your baby is really, really crabby. Cutting {Read More}

Birthdayed.

Courtesy of Godfather Nat. And there is so muchgoing on in this pic that I simply adore to bits. Well, I have a one year-old. Like, officially. Like, We Had The Birthday And The Party So Now It’s Officially Official. The day of the party was frigid. Seriously cold. When I woke up it was 41 degrees- and keep in mind, here in Chicago it had been 80 degrees since maybe February. (I didn’t say it was normal, just that {Read More}
