I decided to post a day early- why not? There’s no reason I HAVE to post on Thursdays…I can still be wild, fancy-free (whatever that means), not tied down to convention… Okay. Or it’s because we’re hosting our very first Thanksgiving tomorrow and there is NO WAY ON EARTH I can get Nora ready, the house ready, the food ready (a turkey? I may end up serving deli slices) and enjoy a leisurely blogging session. So, I’m enjoying my leisure {Read More}
I feel like I should want to remember how to desire non-baby things. Oh well.
First off, happy two week birthday to my little gal, Miss Nora Jane! (Two weeks? You mean, after all of this crazy pregnancy business and madcap preparation…two weeks can go by like THAT? I turned to Peej at the 4am feeding and sorrowfully told him that she’s getting too big. He pointed at her and said “She is SO teense,” with a ‘Don’t start that already’ look on his face. This from the guy who wants twelve more.) Also, Happy {Read More}
Are they trying to intimidate me?
Well, I needn’t have been worried. With the end of Great Expectations (the class, not the book- I finished that in ’96) I feared that my baby saga would no longer be funny- or, worse yet, no longer bring up relevant and timely pregnancy ads on my sidebar. (Have you noticed them? I get maybe an eighth of a cent every time you use one. Click click, people!) As it turns out, being pregnant is still SO MUCH FUN that {Read More}
Wanna come see my MacLaren?
This past weekend Peej and I headed to Pittsfield to be showered with baby…think ‘It’s Raining Men,’ but with pastels. Delicious food, adorable [teensy] presents and a couple dozen of the East Coasters I like best. Also- more than five instances of “I cannot believe how HUGE you are,” to which I reply: a) Believe it. I am carrying another PERSON, and b) that is something extraordinarily obvious to say and (more likely than not) the expectant mother is walking {Read More}
Doesn’t anybody stay in one place anymore?
No. This past weekend (starting on Friday, really) I had the distinct privilege of heading to O’Hare at 4am. (Nat? “As you do.”) It was the beginning of my Let’s See All the Sisters College Tour ’09. And in the nick of time, too- they graduate in a couple of weeks! The flight was lovely, as I had drifted off to sleep right after takeoff…only to be nudged awake by an apologetic flight attendant. Would I care for a drink? {Read More}
It’s functional AND good-looking.
Happy late March and belated Saint Patrick’s Day! Also, happy early spring-carrythatextrahoodie-sureit’swarmnowbuthaveyoucheckedtheweather-rainbootswouldbebetterthanthosecuteballetflats-goodgodit’s30degreesthismorning? Best time of the year. Except summer. And fall. And now for a little public transit-related public ettiquette- If you are a person who pees on the bus, stop it. You are SO close to actually being out of doors where it would be marginally more acceptable to empty your bladder. Yes? Okay. Public nose pickers. Even if you are tilting your head so as not to be {Read More}
Uh, hi March.
Whoops. So, um, been a tad busy with a li’l project or two I’ll reveal shortly. But in the meantime- travel/writing/more travel/more (but unfortunately, of lesser quality) writing/and some meetings. Two weekends ago Peej and I went to Cincy and had a great Subway experience on the way through the state of Indiana (the chain restaurant, I mean- I don’t believe Indiana has a transit system. I could be dead wrong) wherein we, due to the Lenten Season, ordered non-meat {Read More}
