Good Friends And Crazy Children.

So, the good people connected to my darling little family continue to be exceptionally Good People. And I realize I’ve been horribly remiss with all of these shout-outs in forgetting to acknowledge my friend Bethany- quite possibly one of my best friends in the history of friendship- who hoofed it over to my house on multiple early mornings so that I didn’t have to pack Zu and Jasper into the car on preschool drop-off mornings. And who then proceeded to stay {Read More}

A New Gig And At Least One Bathtub Photo.

Okay guys, this will be the shortest weekly recap in the history of ever…because I only have two things to report: My re-admittance to the blogging world after the birth of my son/all the holidays/etc., etc., etc… And the complete awesomesauceitude of my new job blogging for The Mix, 101.9 FM, a fabulously fabulous radio station here in Chicago. 2014 is waving the ol’ banner of Terrific, thus far. Keep it up, 2014. And wow, that’s a short post, right? {Read More}

Daylight Savings Time Is A Big Old Bully.

If one more person tweets or statuses(?) about how great that “extra hour of sleep” was, I’m going to die. Potentially from sleep-deprivation. You see, Fall Back is a big, honkin’ joke. Guess who doesn’t give a rat’s bummy about things like The Time Actually Displayed On The Actual Clock? That’s right, children. Namely, my children. “Ah,” they NEVER SEEM to say to themselves, “It’s still dark out. This must be the new 5 o’clock!” Instead, they wander around blearily like drunken {Read More}

Happy Birthday, Susannah.

My darling Susannah Mae, Tomorrow you turn 2 years old. Which is hilarious to me, because in so many ways I’ve thought of you as “2” for some time now. (Like, since right after you turned 1.) Even though we made you and, to the best of our knowledge, have been a part of each moment that’s defined your two years, your Dad and I laugh in wonder about where the heck you came from. You are easily one of the {Read More}

Wordless Wednesday, Almost-2 Edition

Keepin’ it classically [almost] wordless, Zuzu-style.

Ramping Up To 2 (And A Recap).

Friends, we are entering Birthday Week for one Miss Susannah Zuzu Suzy Mae MonkeyGirl. And everyone knows that “2” is a mammoth birthday. Much bigger than “1.” Especially when one is about to turn “2.” This past weekend, little missypie Zu was lucky enough to celebrate with our Cincinnati family- which just so happens to include her godmother. I mean, REALLY. So there was cake. And cupcakes. And Winnie the Pooh figurines. And her Nat Nat made French-inspired sherbet pineapple desserts {Read More}

Back To School Isn’t All Fun And Games.

Apparently, one kid at the table suggested the word “sad” and the hordes of impressionable classmatesall chimed in with ME, TOO! I asked Nora if she was really sad- she said, “Not really. I painted a great project!” And yes, she was this sad. “Whaddaya mean we’re just gonna LEAVE her here?”“Whaddaya mean I don’t get to PAINT A PROJECT?!”

Tiny Shoebox Dollhouses. ‘Cause Obviously.

The other day, the girls were playing with these miniature shoeboxes that their back-to-school TOMS came in (deeply discounted TOMS, I might add- because I love ’em, but 50 bucks for kiddo shoes? Yipes), and my budding environmentalist asked if we could turn them into something.  We chose dollhouses, because good LORD there aren’t enough places in which the girls’ cadre of dolls can live/work/reside.  However, I cannot resist dollhouses. And these shoeboxes are seriously teensy tinesy and adorable and just {Read More}
